This product has proven very effective and easy to use for extraction of West Nile Virus from mosquito pools as well as SARS CoV 2 from concentrated waste water. It has the added benefit of deactivating the virus so that you dont have to take as many precautions.

Several years ago, when I became a principal investigator, I did a comprehensive comparison among the silica-based DNA extraction kits available on the market. Zymo kits provided similar quantity and quality when compared to the top lab brand (Q), but at literally half of the price. Since then, I have not only switched all kits to Zymo products, but also had 6 other faculty members at the lab test Zymo kits and move to using Zymo products. From DNA to RNA to microbiome products, I appreciate the insights provided in their manuals as well as the tech support on the phone. In my honest opinion, Zymo provides great products at very affordable prices.
