Minimum Essential Medium, Alpha Modification (Alpha MEM) contains additional amino acids and vitamins required for transfection of foreign DNA to mammalian cells. Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) was developed by Harry Eagle and has been used for a wide variety of cells grown in monolayer.
