Plant Pigments and Photosynthesis 8-Station Kit (with prepaid coupon)

It is difficult to get good results with the leaf chromotography lab, but the solvent in this kit works really well. Tip: it evaporates even through a sealed lid (i.e., gone in just a few months), so dont order it until you plan to use it. Another tip: try different kinds of filter paper, and even photocopy paper, because the results differ for each depending on the type of leaf used.

The kits (there were two) had been purchased by a former teacher and had sat one full year before I used them. Three of the six sterile sucrose solutions had mold growing in them and had to be discarded. The other lids had leaked enough to make them next to impossible to remove without the use of pliers. The chromatography solvent didnt give all four pigments, as did my own home made version that contained ethanol, a splash of acetone and water. I had to call to get the handouts/teacher support materials because they werent in the kit, and I could not find them on the website. In the future, I will make my own 0.5 sucrose solution, I can order the phosphate buffer and DPIP from another vendor, and Ill keep using the chromatography solvent that I and the AP Biology teacher made together with the help of one of our chemistry teachers.
