I killed all the flies the first time I used this. If you make sure the sponge isnt saturated, the anesthesia wont pool at the bottom of the funnel. If that happens, the flies drop to the bottom and I guess that even touching the Fly Nap can cause them to die. The second time I put just a few drops around the edge of the sponge only and made sure there was no Fly Nap soaking into the funnel. Then it worked like a charm....sleeping flies that were easy to transfer! I gave it 4 stars because these instructions werent clear and I had to delay classroom activities for a week until new flies arrived.
