Type I insulin-like growth factor receptor IGF-IR), a transmembrane tyrosine kinase, is widely expressed among many cell types in fetal and postnatal tissues, as well as many cell lines (1–3). Upon binding of its ligands, IGF-I and IGF-II, autophosphorylation of receptors occurs. The triple tyrosine cluster (Tyr1131, Tyr1135 and Tyr1136) within the kinase domain is the earliest major site of autophosphorylation (4).
