Cdc14, also known as duel specificity phosphatase, is a protein phosphatase originally discovered in yeast that plays an important role in cell cycle regulation, including exit from mitosis. Throughout G1, S and G2 phases, Cdc14 is located in the nucleolus; at the beginning of anaphase, the protein is redistributed throughout the entire nucleus. In late anaphase, Cdc14 dephosphorylates Cdh1 which then activates APC (Anaphase Promoting Complex).
