Tinoridine Hydrochloride: A Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agent with a Stabilizing Action on Lysosomes
Tinoridine hydrochloride (Y-3642 hydrochloride) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent, and also is a potent radical scavenger. It has been reported that tinoridine has a different mechanism of action than common nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which act by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzyme and thereby inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins. The action is attributed to its bio-membrane stabilizing action particularly on the lysosomes which are related to cell or tissue damage at the time of inflammation through the release of hydrolytic enzymes.
