Description
(±)-O-Desmethyl venlafaxine is the active metabolite of venlafaxine (Item No. 11567), an inhibitor of the reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine. Venlafaxine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 2D6, yielding O-desmethyl venlafaxine, which is pharmacologically similar to the parent drug. (±)-O-Desmethyl venlafaxine inhibits the human serotonin and norepinephrine transporters with IC50 values of 47.3 and 531.3 nM, respectively.
