Arginine-vasopressin (AVP): A Peptide Hormone with Antidiuretic and Vasoconstrictive Activities
Arginine-vasopressin (AVP) is a peptide hormone with antidiuretic and vasoconstrictive activities, and plays an important part in circulatory and water homoeostasis. AVP is released from the hypothalamus in response to changes in plasma, binding at three distinct G protein-coupled receptors: V1aR, V1bR and V2R.
