MG-132: A Tripeptide Aldehyde Proteasome Inhibitor
Proteasomes are protein complexes which degrade unneeded or damaged proteins by proteolysis. MG-132 (carbobenzyl-Leu-Leu-Leu-aldehyde) is the first developed tripeptide aldehyde proteasome inhibitor derived from a Chinese medicinal plant. Similarly to bortezomib [B5741], MG-132 inhibits the chymotrypsin-like proteolytic (β5) site of the 26S proteasome. MG-132 enhances cytostatic/cytotoxic effects of chemo- and radiotherapy, and increases apoptosis induced by other agents. (The product is for research purpose only.)
