ALiCE® as a Service - Protein Expression Feasibility Study

ALiCE® is a plant-based cell-free lysate derived from Nicotiana. tabacum c.v. BY-2 root cells. ALiCE® stands for Almost Living Cell-Free Expression. The lysate is prepared by removing the cell wall and other cell components that are not necessary for protein production, leaving only the the protein production machinery and mitochondria which power the reaction. During our lysate finalization steps, the additional components necessary for protein production (amino acids, co-factors, etc.) are added to produce something that functions just like a cell, but without the constraints of a living system - all that's needed is the DNA encoding the protein of interest!

The ALiCE® as a Service is intended for research use only. It is not to be used for diagnostic or preventive action or treatment of a disease, nor to be administered to humans. Please refer to the Limited Use Label License (LULL) in the Documents section.

We assume no liability for any direct or indirect damages or loss arising from the use, misuse, or results of use of this kit. The user should observe all applicable regulations for handling chemicals and recombinant DNA. Lab coat, safety glasses and gloves should be worn when handling the kit components. When handling ultracold material wear additional protective gloves to avoid frostbite. Used components are to be disposed of in accordance to the local regulations.

Published examples of proteins expressed in ALiCE® includes: Membrane proteins, Antibodies, Protein complexes (e.g. VLPs), Growth factors.
