Durable 1/4" acrylic construction Safe - unit will not operate without lid securely in place Heavy, nonwarping gel-casting tray is marked for easy loading Notches in the center of the tray and two 8-well combs offer the option of running 16 samples per gel Tray makes a gel 3-1/4" W x 3-3/4" L This unit is the same as our Carolina® Gel Electrophoresis Chamber (#213668), except gaskets in the ends of the gel tray eliminate the need for tape. Simply turn the gel sideways in the gel chamber to cast the gel.

This is a nice piece of equipment. The gel is visible to the students while it is running and the set-up is easy for students to understand.
However, they are used by inexperienced students and the chamber can come unglued at the corners when picked up while loaded with buffer. The tray gaskets can also come unglued.
As far as the chambers, Carolina will repair them free of charge but you have to pay to ship it to them. Write to them first.
