Through this activity, your students learn techniques to help them distinguish authentic paintings from counterfeit. The kit provides "real" and "forged" paintings in the styles of Monet, Van Gogh, and Pollock. Students use ultraviolet light to test for fluorescence, test for the presence of lead in the paint, and analyze the mixtures and combinations of colors. Materials sufficient for 24 students working in 6 groups of 5 students.
