I recently started farming daphnia for my freshwater fish. Daphnia provide fish with the natural food and hunting skills they already have. Problem is, if you raise...

You can start to see large amounts of single celled organisms within a few weeks. Be sure to use actual pond water (or aquarium water in my case.) Also be sure...

This product is awesome! Within three days of use I had plenty paramecium, and by week 1 a juvenile shrimp was making cameo appearances. The product works very...

Perfect food for daphnia!

I recently started farming daphnia for my freshwater fish. Daphnia provide fish with the natural food and hunting skills they already have. Problem is, if you raise daphnia on a limited food source, they dont provide the fish with the nutrients they require. This product is a perfect food source for any filter feeders.

Easy, quick production of single-celled organisms
Laurel M.
You can start to see large amounts of single celled organisms within a few weeks. Be sure to use actual pond water (or aquarium water in my case.) Also be sure to allow for a large surface area for oxygen to dissolve in the water. Do not cap the container or it will start to stink like a swamp. The solution is very dominant on paramecium, and I would like to see a larger variety of single celle dorganisms, but Im not a population ecologist so perhaps it is just succession.

Definitely trying it again
Solomon S.
This process worked well, but I think I messed something up along the way. I stirred it once about 5 days after adding the spring water and when we observed the species present 8 days after adding water, it was an unpleasant gray and smelled bad, but there was interesting life present. Overall it worked well and the students had fun with it.
