Application of 2,4,6-Tri(pyridyl)-1,3,5-Triazine Ligands for “Crystalline Sponge Method”
2,4,6-Tri(4-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine have been coupled to transition metals and lanthanoides, and the obtained complexes have been used in various fields such as luminescent materials and coordination polymers. For striking example, Fujita et al. have reported that self-assembly of 2,4,6-tri-4-pyridinyl-1,3,5-triazine tridentate ligand with metals give metal organic frameworks (MOFs) which can be used in the sample preparation for single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCD), called “Crystalline Sponge Method”. In many cases, the method determines the absorbed guest structure along with the host frameworks.
