Description
Grades 9-12. Students explore the law of conservation of mass through 5 separate chemical reactions. For each reaction, students mass the reactants and products and cite evidence of a chemical change, such as evolution of a gas, formation of a precipitate, or change in color. They determine whether mass is conserved and account for any changes in mass. Gas is evolved in 2 reactions that are performed both in an open tube and capped tube for students to compare mass changes. Kit contains enough materials for 30 students working in pairs.
